What if I have a flat tyre (or mechanical issue)?

Do not ride the bike with a flat tyre; it is dangerous, and you may fall off. Also, the wheels will be damaged. If you are able, push the bike back to the location where you borrowed it. If you are too far to wheel the bike, you can call an Uber XL or 13Cabs Maxi Taxi (ph: 13 2227) to transport you and the bike (at your own cost). Do not leave the bike in a public place where it might be stolen. Contact the Neighbourhood House where you borrowed the bike. If it is outside opening hours they will not answer the phone so you need to find a way to get the bike home.

What if I have an accident?

The cargo bike and accessories are borrowed from the Merri-bek Electric Bike Library at your own risk.
It is expected that you will take all reasonable care when using the bicycle.
If required, contact an ambulance and wait for medical attention to arrive. If significant personal or property damage has occurred involving another person or their property, you are required to contact the police and make a police report as soon as possible.
For all accidents/incidents, report it to the Neighbourhood House where you borrowed the bike.

What if the cargo bike gets stolen?

You borrow the bike from the Merri-bek Electric Bike Library at your own risk. If the cargo bike is stolen, please report the theft to the police and the Neighbourhood House immediately.
*Theft insurance is included as long as the following steps are taken:
– Your bicycle must always be securely locked with an approved lock through the frame to an immovable object.
– Your bicycle can be kept at home unlocked as long as it is inside your house, garage, or outbuilding and all windows and doors are securely locked and thus fully enclosed.

Do I need to use the key to start the bike?

No, the key is used to remove the battery from the battery mount and is only required if you are charging the battery off the bike. Make sure you have taken the key off the bike when riding, or else it may get lost.

How long does it take to charge the e-bike?

It takes 2 to 5 hours to charge, depending on how flat it is.
